Refrigeration Performance Indicator

A brand-new analytical software tool helps businesses select the most efficient, cost-saving refrigeration systems for their premises. Refrigeration Performance Indicator (RPI) offers industry-first benefits: it enables like-for-like comparisons between individual refrigeration display cases, coldroom evaporators, system designs, or sites.

Like-for-Like Comparisons

Like-for-like comparisons of refrigeration system designs and components allow businesses to choose the option that is best for a particular site.

Analysis of System Components

RPI offers performance data for individual refrigeration system components, including individual display cases and coldrooms evaporators.

Choosing Efficient System Designs

RPI calculates COPe, taking into account system specifications and environmental conditions, to enable businesses to choose the most efficient refrigeration system.

Choosing The Most Efficient Refrigeration System

As an industry-first, businesses can now compare the efficiency of various refrigeration system designs like-for-like. Using RPI, businesses can analyse the impact of factors such as energy use, heat reclaim, asset size, different manufacturers’ equipment, and environmental conditions on their system’s efficiency. RPI also calculates an electrical coefficient of performance (COPe).

With RPI, businesses can make the most cost-effective and environmentally-friendly decision when choosing a refrigeration system.

Comparing Individual System Components

RPI offers performance data for individual refrigeration system components, including individual display cases and coldrooms evaporators. By doing so, RPI diverts from the industry standard of using only energy submetering for the whole refrigeration system to determine energy use. With performance data of individual  components at their disposal, businesses and system designers can create the most efficient system for their premises.

Energy Management & Predictive Maintenance

Using RPI's situationally adjusted performance data for individual system components, users can identify system components with unusually high energy use. Identifying which component uses too much energy helps businesses carry out corrective action and predictive maintenance. This, in turn, keeps maintenance and operational costs low while reducing the carbon footprint and maintaining the system efficiency.

Access to Granular Data

Businesses can access granular data about refrigeration system components through RPI. RPI calculates evaporator duty and breaks it down into live value, last hour average, running daily total and previous 24 hour total. Display case duty is split into total device duty and duty/m length to allow comparing efficiency adjusted for length. Coldroom evaporator duty can be provided as duty per metre squared or cubed. Overall system duty output, heat reclaim output, electrical energy input, and COPe, are also broken down further to provide detailed energy data.

Available on DMTouch

The new RPI tool is available through control and monitoring system front-end DMTouch. Offering unparalleled options to manage a building's HVAC and refrigeration infrastructure, DMTouch helps businesses reduce energy use and improve operating efficiency.
