All core RDM training courses are delivered live online via Microsoft Teams. This ensures maximum accessibility, consistent delivery quality, and minimal disruption to your engineering teams. In-person training at our Glasgow office is available in special circumstances.
We currently offer four core courses. For any other training requirements and questions about on-site courses, please contact us directly.
Install & Commissioning Training
Level: This course is for beginner to intermediate refrigeration engineers with basic refrigeration knowledge.
Duration: 3 days
Overview:
This comprehensive online course covers the full process of installing and commissioning refrigeration systems using RDM controls. Attendees learn how to work confidently with RDM evaporator controllers, such as the Mercury case/coldroom series, and the Data Manager DMTouch and miniDM.
Topics covered:
• RDM evaporator controllers
• IP networking fundamentals and device configuration
• Logging into devices and understanding communication principles
• Full DMTouch/miniDM setup: hardware, software, commissioning workflows
• Energy optimisation features within RDM controls
Outcome:
Engineers gain the knowledge and confidence to install, configure, and commission a complete site using RDM equipment.
DMTouch & miniDM Training
Level: Engineers and technicians aiming to maximise their use of the DMTouch and miniDM for refrigeration and BMS.
Duration: 1 day
Overview:
A practical introduction to the DMTouch and miniDM hardware, user interface, system-level features, and third-party integration options.
Topics covered:
• DMTouch/miniDM hardware and installation
• Navigating the user interface and service menu
• Alarm management, device navigation, timers, system settings
• Integration protocols: Modbus, BACnet, XML, Web Services, MQTT
• Accessing support resources, drivers, and documentation
• Introduction to Layout Editor 3 with a live demonstration
Outcome:
Attendees leave with practical experience and confidence in operating, supporting, and integrating DMTouch/miniDM systems.
Layout Editor 3 (LE3) Training
Audience: Engineers who need to design clear, graphical layouts to improve system visibility and monitoring.
Duration: 0.5 days
Overview:
A focused session on building visual site layouts that make system data easier to interpret, support, and present to clients.
Topics covered:
• LE3 interface, icons, menus, and layout structure
• Creating graphical layouts using live system data
• Advanced features: animations, custom imagery, multi-layer layouts
• Platform compatibility: DMTouch, miniDM, Intuitive TDB, Mini Intuitive, TouchXL
Outcome:
Engineers learn to produce effective graphical dashboards suitable for deployment across RDM platforms.
The Data Builder (TDB) Training
Audience: Engineers looking to design or modify bespoke control strategies.
Duration: 2 days
Overview:
This course covers the complete TDB development workflow—from designing logic to testing, deploying, and monitoring strategies live.
Topics covered:
• TDB Editor fundamentals: blocks, connections, strategy design
• Simulation mode for testing and verifying programs
• Online mode for live monitoring and diagnostics
• Supported hardware: DMTouch, miniDM, Intuitive TDB range, Mercury TDB, TouchXL
• Applications across refrigeration, HVAC, lighting, and energy
• Integrating additional peripherals such as USB pulse counters, Modbus devices, and touchscreen displays
Outcome:
Attendees gain the capability to develop and deploy custom control solutions across a wide range of applications.
