News at RDM: new controller slashes cooling energy costs for the licensed trade

Rising energy costs are combining with increasing use of air conditioning and refrigeration in pubs and clubs to create a major headache for landlords and the multiple site licensed trade.

Recent trends such as the introduction of ultra cold beer and the rise in the serving of food have required significant investments in additional power-hungry cooling.

Recognising the problem, pioneering control company RDM has launched a new low-cost monitoring system designed to put pub managers back in control of energy running costs.

The company’s new Data manager enables simple and precise monitoring and control of refrigeration temperatures throughout an establishment, including cellar and beer coolers, food refrigerators and freezers and comfort air conditioning.

As well as enabling easy onsite control locally, it can be connected to a corporate wide area network (WAN) to allow head office staff to monitor multiple sites nationwide.

To reduce the cost of installation in existing premises, the system can be linked up with RDM’s inexpensive wireless mesh system. This overcomes the need to run cables between existing equipment and the central monitor / controller.

The Data Manager is based on a modular design that allows users to purchase the precise functions needed for their application, making it highly cost-effective. If pub plant is modified or new equipment installed at a later date, additional monitoring and control functions can be added quickly and easily for minimum outlay.

The smart, contemporary design of the unit, coupled with its functional versatility and ease of use, takes control of energy use in pubs and clubs into a new era.
