News at RDM: refrigeration controller advances

Resource Data Management pioneers with fresh approach to control and monitoring of refrigeration and building systems

Resource Data Management, the British-based control and monitoring company, is pioneering developments in a number of important new areas.

The company now supplies a growing range of industry-leading products and services to end-users, manufacturers and building management companies in the UK, mainland Europe and the US.

Latest developments include a second generation Data Manager, a new Mercury controller and a new wireless system for quickly linking control and monitoring systems in stores and building.

Data Manager

The new Data Manager is a technologically advanced modular control system designed for use in all applications where control of temperatures is required, such as supermarkets, factories, warehouses, shops, hotels, pubs, restaurants and so on.

The modular design enables users to purchase the precise functions needed for their application, making it highly cost-effective. If plant is modified or extended at a later date, additional functions can be added quickly and easily for minimum outlay.

RDM’s Steve Nicoll says: “The ability to run The Data Builder software platform on the Data Manager really makes it stand out. This is drag and drop programmable logic control software that allows the customer to design their own control system and interface with any aspect of the network.”

Mercury controller

RDM’s new Mercury controller comes in two versions, for use with either mechanical or electronic expansion valves. Each can be used to control high or low temperature on cold rooms, or refrigerated display cases.

Complete with vivid blue LED displays, they are easily configured with the use of surface mounted buttons without the need for a separate hand-held device. They can be used as stand-alone controllers on individual plant or networked as part of a store-wide control system.

Devices are networked using a communication module. This is connected to the data port on the Mercury unit, with outlets specified according to the user’s requirements.

RDM business focus

The company has three main areas of business

  • Design and manufacture of IP-based control systems for the refrigeration and h&v industry, building owners and FM companies.

  • A round-the-clock remote monitoring and management service, based on its own ActivFM software, on behalf of some of the biggest names on the High Street.

  • A data management service for building and estate operators and owners.
